![]() ![]() Has globalisation made inflation more dependent on global factors? We review each aspect on the basis of recent evidence and academic literature. Finally, globalisation may influence central banks in subtler and more indirect ways. Second, it may complicate central banks’ role in supporting financial stability. First and foremost, globalisation may have an impact on inflation. In this column, we highlight that central banks are also not immune to the forces of globalisation in at least three dimensions. ![]() Governments are increasingly confronted with the challenge of preserving the benefits of globalisation while managing its side effects. Globalisation has been a powerful force of change that has increased productivity and played a key role in lifting millions out of poverty in emerging markets.
